Seller Battery Health Certificate for your used Tesla
Buyers worry about the battery more than anything else. Give them an independent, screenshot-backed battery read they can check for themselves. You stay in control: you approve access from Tesla’s own email, it’s read-only, and it ends on its own.
What you get
- A PDF certificate with the battery and 12V readings the car reports (usable energy / estimated range at the time of the read, 12V voltage, HV-related alerts if any).
- A plain-English summary a buyer can read in one minute, plus the supporting redrawn data tables and screenshot evidence.
- The VIN is masked on the shareable version (last 6 shown), and it carries the date of the read, so it’s clear when the data was captured.
- Active alerts listed and explained, so there are no surprises at the buyer’s inspection.
Who it’s for
Private sellers anywhere the car can be reached online, including sellers whose buyers are out of state. Because you are the registered owner, you can approve access yourself, with no back-and-forth.
How it works
- Book and send us your Tesla account email and the car’s model / year.
- Approve the request from Tesla’s email (see below).
- We read the car remotely while it’s online and prepare the certificate.
- You receive the PDF to attach to your listing or send to buyers.
If we can’t connect to the car (won’t wake, offline, dead 12V), you pay $0 — your payment is refunded in full. If the car has been parked a long time, we may ask you to wake it and approve a re-read. See terms & limitations.
What a remote read cannot tell you
- Physical condition: body, paint, glass, tires, brakes, suspension wear, fluid leaks, or accident repair quality.
- A guarantee of future battery life. We report what the car’s own data shows on the day of the read.
- Anything Toolbox doesn’t expose for that model year or software version. If a data point isn’t available, the report says so.
How approval really works
- We send an official Toolbox owner-authorization request to the Tesla account email of the registered owner.
- The owner gets an email from Tesla (noreply-toolbox@teslamotors.com) and clicks the approval link in it. Check spam / promotions if it doesn’t show up within a few minutes.
- Access is read-only diagnostics for about 7 days, and the owner can revoke it at any time. The request itself expires if it isn’t approved in time.
- The car must be online and connected (Wi-Fi or cellular) while we read it. A car that is asleep with no connectivity, or has a dead 12V battery, can’t be read remotely.
- We never ask for Tesla passwords, PINs, or keys.
Details: Tesla Toolbox owner authorization.
FAQ
Are you Tesla or a Tesla-authorized partner?
No. Remote Tesla Diag is independent and not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Tesla, Inc. We use the owner-authorization flow Tesla provides to vehicle owners.
Will a buyer trust a certificate the seller paid for?
The certificate shows the underlying readings and screenshots, not just our opinion, and it’s dated. A buyer can still ask for their own read or an in-person inspection; the certificate is meant to make that conversation easier.
Does the certificate show my personal details?
No. The shareable version shows no owner name or email and masks the VIN except the last 6 characters.
What if the battery reading is bad?
You get the report either way. It’s your document, and you decide whether to share it.
How fast is it?
Usually within 1 business day after approval, as long as the car is online.
Terms & limitations (please read before booking)
- Car won’t wake, is offline, or has a dead 12V battery: we cannot read it remotely. If we can’t connect at all, you pay $0 — full refund.
- Car parked for a long time: Tesla may give us an older saved snapshot instead of live data. When we can tell, the report labels each reading as current or stale. We may ask you to wake the car (open the Tesla app, turn on climate, or plug it in) and approve a fresh re-read.
- What you need to do: the car must be in your (or the owner’s) Tesla account, you must approve Tesla’s Toolbox email, and the car must be online during the read.
- Refunds: full refund only if we cannot connect at all. If we connect but some data is stale or limited, we report what we could read and clearly say what we couldn’t.
Small print: Remote Tesla Diag is an independent service — not Tesla, Inc. and not a Tesla-authorized partner. A remote read reports what the car’s own data shows at the time of the read; it is not a physical inspection or a guarantee of future condition or battery life. Remote diagnosis only — no repairs, parts, or towing.
